Surviving families · Kibbutz Kfar Aza
Ellay and Ariel Golan
Ellay and Ariel Golan lived at Kibbutz Kfar Aza with their daughter Yael, then about a year and a half old. They survived the October 7, 2023 attack. The campaign says attackers set the house on fire and that burns covered about 60 percent of Ellay’s body, 45 percent of Ariel’s, and 30 percent of Yael’s. The family was treated at Sheba Medical Center’s National Burn Center. The appeal says Ariel was in an induced coma for eight days, Yael for ten, and Ellay for 58.
Before the attack, Ellay was a medical student at Ben-Gurion University in clinical training at Soroka. The November 2024 campaign said she planned to specialize in intensive care and anesthesia, that the family was expecting another baby, and that she was about to start residency at Sheba. It also mentioned a matching gift and asked for help buying a car.
A September 2026 account from American Friends of Soroka Medical Center says she finished her training and, in September 2025, began a residency in anesthesiology and critical care at Soroka. It says she had to relearn ordinary tasks after she regained consciousness. This page follows that later account for the residency and does not treat the match or the car request as current needs. Amy Bakst organized the fundraiser for beneficiary Hadas Golan Kord. It was created to help replace a car during recovery. On October 11, 2026 it still showed a donate link.
